Well, another year is quickly coming to a close and 2015 is quickly creeping around the corner. There are a lot of things that I have to be grateful for and looking back, there were a lot of “Firsts” too.
2014 started off to a rock solid start with the arrival of Julia Starr, my best friend and travel companion.
She stayed with me for a short while and we went on one adventure after another until I started to lose concentration on my diet and physical training. I was definitely beginning to go through some major stresses which inevitably landed me in the E.R. one work night.
I had experienced big Anxiety Attacks in the past, but this one was different, I felt like I was losing touch with my normal reality and entering a terrible new reality of nightmarish content.
One of my “Firsts” was the Lumbar Puncture(Spinal Tap) that was administered in the E.R. to rule out the presence of blood in my cerebral spinal fluid because I had a horrendous headache.
I was given a diagnosis of Severe Depression mixed with General Anxiety Disorder and told that I had to see a therapist.
Eventually I was put on Paxil which I was not okay with, so I quite after 10 days and decided that enough was enough.
I started to eat better and get back into my exercise training routine. With my fight taking a sever toll on my mental state, I had to send Julia home until I got better. Months later after I had taken the reigns back, I flew Julia back out to my home in the Mojave Desert to celebrate Thanksgiving, Her Birthday, and One of the biggest road trips that either of us had ever experienced!
To make an amazing adventure like our 2014 Eastern Sierra Trip, I had spent the first half of 2014 upgrading the Starship to be able to handle the rough terrain, ice and mud that we would encounter in the Sierra Nevada. I love the shit out of my truck now and she’s ready to keep me trucking for another 10 years! =D
Another great thing for 2014 is the fact that I am still working at Apple for the second year in a row and I am thoroughly content about that!, at least until I get that winning lottery so I can eliminate the disgusting $355k worth of student loan debt and finally travel the world to produce more and more amazing travel blogs to share with everyone!
“Took my mom and dad out to Death Valley for the first time, they enjoyed it”
Most importantly, I am grateful that my Mom and Pops are doing well and happy to know that the pups keep them active and laughing. I know I could use a bit more laughter in my life these days, but all in good time. In the meantime, I will continue to fight the good fight and maintain total discipline with my training and nutrition from here on out for the sake of good health both mental and physical.
I don’t know what 2015 has in store for my particular timeline, but I can only wait patiently as the days go by.
Until then, thanks for visiting and remember to always “Shoot the Planet!”
