Joshua Tree National Park: Sunset and Star Shots
September 16, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 11:00 pm PDT$25.00
This is a one day venture into the rough terrain of Joshua Tree National Park. We will hike to a great location for some spectacular sunset photo opportunities. When the sun sets, that is when the star party gets moving as we make our way to another great location for some superb night photography. We will be shooting photos of the Milky Way as it looms overhead. You will definitely want to be equipped with a wide angle lens, sturdy tripod, and a remote release if possible. It does get pretty dark as we will be shooting without the moon so having a headlamp will be ideal.
- There is a maximum occupancy of 20 people for this venture.
About the terrain:
Joshua Tree National Park is a beautiful park, but can also be very unforgiving in general. It is important to exhibit good situational awareness and most importantly, “Stay hydrated” in the warmer months and keep warm in the colder months. The terrain can be very uneven in most places and so it is imperative that you wear the appropriate footwear and always watch your step as the Jumping Cholla cacti will show you why they are named as such.
The wildlife and vegetation at Joshua Tree are beautiful and not without their own natural defenses, so please be very watchful of snakes and cactus. The average elevation is approximately 2,736 ft(834 m) and some of the trail can be host to some strenuous hiking, so please know your limits and tell us ahead of time so we can arrange an alternative route or destination. In regards to temperature, The park can reach summer averages of 101ºF(38.4ºC) and during the Winter, the temperatures can reach an average low of 36ºF(2ºC).
