F.A.Q.

What is Shoot the Planet?

Shoot the Planet is a term  I created that defines what anyone with a passion for photography would do. This has been a dream of mine since 2006, but college and work made it difficult to give rise to this concept. Now with a bit more freedom, Shoot The Planet is alive and dedicated to all enthusiasts of photography and the outdoor adventures that come with it. I guarantee the locations we visit will not disappoint.

Why do the workshops and ventures have limited seating?

As a believer in quality experiences, I feel that 8-20 is a good number that will not inundate any particular workshop or venture participant with the stress of feeling crowded in while trying to get in some fantastic photography.

What is involved in a workshop or venture?

When you sign up for a workshop or venture, you will be joining a group of photography and travel enthusiasts at a designated location where we will either drive, hike, or off road to reach prime scenery for photography.

When I join a workshop or venture, can I drive myself?

You sure can, but note that a high clearance vehicle or 4×4 may be necessary unless otherwise stated on the “Additional Information” tab of a specific venture.

Can I get a refund if something comes up on the day of the workshop / venture?

You can get a full refund if as long as you notify me at least 72 hours before the day of the venture you signed up for.

Is it okay if I take rocks, flowers, etc from any of the destinations?

“Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints”, is a great motto that I firmly believe in and to answer your question, Please don’t. Although I will not be policing everyone’s activity on these trips, I will leave it at your discretion to please respect the places we visit.

Do you offer “One on One” lessons?

Yes!, this is my favorite method of instruction as I feel that I can convey a large amount of information and description. If you are interested in arranging a private workshop with me, send me a message via the contact page and tell me what you would like to learn and where you would like to shoot and if you’re not sure, that’s no problem either. Tell me your current experience with photography and what you would like to learn by sending me a photo of a specific style that may have inspired you and I will work with you to assist in getting that technique down. As for the location, if you aren’t sure, tell me where you’re located and I can find a place near you or if you want to go some place new, I can do that too.

If you wish to book a private photo venture, send me a message via the contact page and tell me how many will be in your group and where you would like to go. I will need a security deposit of 50% two weeks prior to the venture date. The security deposit is fully refundable as long as you cancel 72 hours before the day of the venture. I will need a two week minimum notification of your intended destination so that I can make the proper arrangements.

Are there any terms and conditions?

Yes, as a matter of fact all workshop and venture listings have a section of information which states that by purchasing or registering for said workshop or venture, you agree to the Shoot The Planet Terms and Conditions.
