This venture is a three day excursion to the beautiful Eastern Sierra Nevada where we will spend a day hiking to popular Rainbow Falls and the lesser known Minaret Falls. From early spring to mid summer, the waterfalls in this region flow at their best. The popular Rainbow Falls is named as such for yielding an impressive rainbow at about 11am to Noon. This waterfall has a straight drop of 102 ft (31 m) and is very impressive to witness in person. The other waterfall is located upstream in the opposite direction and is not as well known. Minaret Falls is a hidden gem and unlike the single vertical drop of Rainbow Falls, Minaret Falls offers dozens of cascades over a combined drop of 250 ft (76 m). With all the hiking we will be doing, a big dinner in downtown Mammoth will be a great way to end the day.

Available Seats:

  • There is a maximum occupancy of 20 people for this Venture.
About the terrain:
There will be a significant amount of hiking involved at some pretty high altitudes on this venture so please know your limits. The trailhead to Rainbow Falls starts at about 7,600 ft (2,316.4 m) and the elevation gain is approximately 600 ft (182.8 m). The hike is a 6 mile (9.6 km) round trip so bringing plenty of water is very necessary especially in the warmer months. The hike to Minaret Falls is a 3 mile (4.8 km) round trip and a bit easier overall than Rainbow Falls.
